New versioning scheme

Note that beginning with the next release, QMC2 (as well as QMC2 Arcade and Qt CHDMAN GUI) will use the same version as the respective MAME release.

This should avoid confusion about the MAME version it’s compatible to / synced with in the future. I’ve been asked several times about it, and now since the last digit doesn’t match anymore it’s probably more of an issue for users not reading the change-log closely (before it was “MAME version minus 110”, now it’s “MAME version minus 111” and it’s possible I’ll skip other MAME releases in the future as well, so I suppose it makes sense).

QMC2 0.71 released

QMC2 0.71 has just been released. It’s in sync with MAME 0.182 which was released yesterday (yes, we skipped 0.181, see post below) !

Besides two important software-list related bug-fixes we’ve updated the bundled versions of zlib and the LZMA SDK (7-zip) to their latest releases. Since both steps were fairly big code-wise, this should generally improve/modernize archive compatibility and performance. See the change-log below for more details!

The source code is now available in the download section. As always, expect updated binary packages within the next few hours and days.

Have fun,

The QMC2 dev-team

Happy new year!

Just wanted to let you know that I’m not going to release a new version this month, mainly because I didn’t find the time to add anything of real importance. Instead I used my free time to update the VNC OSD in order to work with current MAME. It meanwhile also supports audio streaming through the Qt VNC Client which gets developed in parallel.

I hope to find more time for QMC2 in January! See you in 2017 – and a happy new year!

Cheers, René

QMC2 0.70 released

QMC2 0.70 has been released. It’s synced with MAME 0.180 which was released earlier today!

Besides the usual bug-fixes and improvements QMC2 now has a new icon cache database which is used to slightly speed up icon loading and to make it more independent from the user’s concrete setup. The support for MAME output notifiers has been redone from scratch and should work on any OS now (including Windows, though this is still untested). And last but not least we’ve added optional automatic adjustment of the emulator’s statename parameter in software-lists for easier separation of state-files. See the change-log below for details!

The source code is now available in the download section. As always, expect updated binary packages within the next few hours and days.

Have fun,
